Dr. Sarah Wahab, Psy.D.
Dr. Wahab is a licensed psychologist and received her psychology doctorate from California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University (Los Angeles). She completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in clinical psychology with Family Support Centers Inc. at the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House working with individuals, couples and families in crisis. Dr. Wahab received her pre-doctoral training in community mental health providing individual, family and group therapy treatment to clients with severe mental disorders, co-occurring substance use disorders and court-ordered therapy.
Dr. Wahab works systematically, from a differentiation approach, with adults, couples and families. Dr. Wahab uses a strength based approach to help clients identify their personal goals, achieve self awareness, and make important changes to live the life they want to live. She incorporates Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and psychoeducation for bipolar disorder, depression and substance use disorders. She specializes in working from a culturally competent approach in the treatment of substance use disorders, co-occurring substance use disorders, anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder and PTSD.
Dr. Wahab meets with each client for individual or family therapy at least once a week, provides regular staff trainings and clinical supervision to each counselor at Pax House.
Dr. Wahab is a native of Northern Virginia, and has lived in the Los Angeles area for the past 12 years with her husband and their 2 children. When she is not working providing support to clients and staff, Dr. Wahab enjoys traveling and spending time with her friends and family.
